Our approach to diabetic foot care

We believe in a holistic approach, considering it an integral part of overall well-being. Our podiatry clinic offers:

Understanding diabetic foot in early stages

Diabetic foot is a serious complication that can lead to severe issues if not addressed promptly. Long-standing diabetes and poorly controlled diabetes can cause significant changes in blood flow, decreasing the oxygen supply to nerves and muscles in the feet. This results in a loss of protective sensation, making diabetic patients less likely to feel pain or injury.

Recognizing early symptoms is crucial for preventing further complications. Our podiatry clinic in Laval is committed to educating patients about early stage diabetic foot ulcers and providing comprehensive care for diabetic foot conditions.

Common Diabetic Symptoms in Feet

  • Numbness or tingling sensation
  • Changes in skin color or temperature
  • Slow-healing wound
  • Dry, cracked skin
  • Foot deformities

*Early diabetes feet symptoms may be subtle, but our experienced podiatrists can detect and treat them effectively.

The importance of early diabetic foot care

Even a simple blister or ingrown toenail can go unnoticed for weeks in diabetic patients due to reduced sensation. Combined with poor circulation, this can lead to ulceration, severe infection, and potential amputation. It’s imperative to conduct daily foot exams at home and consult your podiatrist as soon as you notice anything problematic. NEVER attempt to fix the problem yourself, as this often leads to further complications.

Professional excellence treatmen

Our commitment to the highest quality podiatric care extends to all aspects of diabetic foot treatment. We stay updated with the latest advancements in diabetic foot care to provide you with the best possible outcomes.

No two foot surgeries are the same, and every patient reacts differently to surgery. Having said that, we generally ask our surgical patients to keep their feet off the ground for 2 weeks, followed by a gradual return to walking in sports shoes. Normal healing time is around 3 months. Swelling of the foot may be present for several months after surgery.
