Heel pain is a common condition that can significantly impact your daily life. Whether you experience pain on the bottom or back of your heel, it can stem from various factors.
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the thick band of tissue (plantar fascia) that runs from the bottom of your heel to your toes. Our podiatrists at Clinique Podiatrique de Chomedey are experts in diagnosing and treating this condition.
Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:
When plantar fasciitis becomes chronic, it may lead to the formation of a heel spur – a calcification of the heel. In some cases, an X-ray may reveal this calcification, which can contribute to persistent heel pain.
As with all underfoot pain, it’s crucial to consult a podiatrist as soon as possible when experiencing heel pain. At Clinique Podiatrique de Chomedey, we emphasize the importance of early intervention. Treating underfoot pain in its acute phase is always preferable, as chronic conditions can be more challenging to heal.

We like to look at treating plantar fasciitis 2 ways. We have to treat the pain that you are having with either rest , ice , medication, cortisone injections. However more importantly we have to determine why you are having this pain and get to the root of the issue. This is why a proper assessment with one of our podiatrists is so important. Not everyone’s plantar fasciitis is treated the same way.

No two foot surgeries are the same, and every patient reacts differently to surgery. Having said that, we generally ask our surgical patients to keep their feet off the ground for 2 weeks, followed by a gradual return to walking in sports shoes. Normal healing time is around 3 months. Swelling of the foot may be present for several months after surgery.
